Our Students
Only 20% of high school students of color in the Silicon Valley graduate college-eligible. Approximately 10% of East Palo Alto residents have a bachelor's degree and EPA's high school dropout rate is estimated to be over 60%. In a community with a broken education system, our students are changing the odds.
Facts about EPACS students:
Our student body is diverse, but they all have one thing in common — they are ready to learn, eager to succeed, and determined to go to college. They come from all over the world -- Mexico, the Philippines, Bolivia, and Colombia -- and some have been born and raised in East Palo Alto. They love to read and write, study math and science, make art, and play sports. Most of all, they love our school!
From hands-on experiments in science class to work in our organic garden, our students' rich academic life extends beyond the classroom. Our after school programs are designed with learning and fun in mind, and include spending time with our dedicated volunteers. When it comes to special events, our students love to show off their performance skills and what they learned to their parents and the school.
